Removing, cancelling and switching: what each means

1 min read

When managing team subscriptions you come across three actions that sound similar at first but do different things. Anyone who keeps them apart manages their team confidently and avoids surprises at billing. So it is worth understanding the difference calmly once.

Removing means you take a person off their seat, but the subscription itself continues and stays paid. The seat becomes free and you can assign it to another person right away. This is the right way when someone leaves the team and another person takes over, because you keep the paid seat and simply pass it on.

Cancelling and the consequences

Cancelling goes a step further: here you end a subscription permanently, so it is no longer billed. This is the right way when you really reduce your needs and no longer need a seat. You can cancel each subscription individually and never have to end the whole package at once. Important: a cancellation gives no partial refund, but you can use the time you already paid for in full.

In both cases, removing as well as cancelling, the affected person keeps the credits they already received and their images. They just receive no new credits through this subscription. And because they automatically get a notification when their sponsored subscription ends, the process stays transparent for everyone.

Switching and upgrading

That leaves switching to another plan. You raise or lower your own subscription anytime right in the pricing boxes. For a distributed person an upgrade works a little differently: you buy a new, larger subscription, assign it to the person and then cancel the smaller one. This deliberately simple path keeps management clear, especially when you have many different plans in the team.
