The portrait does not look like me: a step-by-step fix

Sometimes a generated portrait does not fit right away. Maybe it looks a little unnatural, does not quite capture your features or the look is not the one you had in mind. This is no reason to worry and usually quickly solved. In the vast majority of cases the cause is in the source image or the selection, not in a fundamental problem.

The first and simplest step is to create a new variant. Even a second generation often delivers a noticeably better result. If you like the look in principle but a detail bothers you, adjust background, clothing or framing specifically and generate again. Because each variant uses credits, you always keep control over the effort.

When several variants do not help

If several attempts do not reach the goal, it is worth looking at the selfie. Very often uneven light, a blurry image, a strong filter or a partly hidden face is the real reason. A fresh selfie with even daylight from the front, a straight look into the camera and a clearly visible face almost always improves the result noticeably. It is worth investing a few minutes here rather than creating many variants from a weak source image.

Fine-tuning instead of starting over

Sometimes the portrait is actually good, it just needs a small touch. In that case you do not have to start a new generation but open the image in the built in editor. There you adjust brightness, color and framing without using credits. For a different look or background, however, a new variant is the better way. With this combination of a new variant, a better selfie and fine-tuning in the editor, you get practically any portrait to where you want it.
